Sources: McGurk undergoing Leeds United medical after breakthrough in talks

Sean McGurk is undergoing a Leeds United medical today as he completes a transfer from Wigan Athletic, Football Insider understands.

The terms of a permanent move have been agreed following a breakthrough in talks.

An industry source has told Football Insider Leeds are confident the transfer will be completed in the next 24-48 hours.

McGurk is yet to make his senior debut for Wigan but has caught the eye with a string of impressive performances for their Under-18 side.

He is out of contract but as he is just 18-years-old Leeds will owe a fee that may be set by a tribunal.

The attacker has scored 35 goals over the last two seasons for Wigan’s Under-18s side.

Leeds have already added Amari Miller to their academy ranks this summer and McGurk is set to be their second addition.

Miller moved from Birmingham City last month for a fee that could rise to £1.5million.

McGurk would be the second teenager to swap Wigan for Leeds in as many years.

Joe Gelhardt signed for Leeds last summer and scored 11 times in Premier League 2 last season.

He is yet to make his senior bow but was named on the bench for eight Premier League games.

Instead, the England youth international played a key role as Mark Jackson’s Under-23s side won Premier League 2 Division 2.

McGurk will likely link up with Jackson’s side as they prepare for life in Premier League 2 Divison 1.

In other news, a Leeds United playmaker is set join a new team for next season.
