Sources: Millwall set sights on signing Shrewsbury Town star Daniel Udoh

Millwall have set their sights on signing Shrewsbury Town striker Daniel Udoh, Football Insider understands.

The London club’s recruitment team have been keeping close tabs on the in-form forward, 25, ahead of the summer.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Millwall sent a top talent-spotter to watch Udoh in action for Town in their recent league clash against Ipswich Town (9 April).

The powerful and mobile striker is said to fit the profile of the type of front man Gary Rowett is looking to sign this summer.

Udoh is under contract at New Meadow until the summer of 2023.

He played the full 90 minutes against Ipswich but was not able to add to his goal tally of 15 for the season across all competitions.

That includes Shrewsbury’s goal in their 4-1 loss to Liverpool at Anfield in the FA Cup third round earlier this year.

The Nigerian-born ace joined Shrewsbury from non-league side AFC Telford United in 2019.

He has scored 24 times and provided 12 assists in 125 games, including 84 starts, across all competitions for the Shrews.

Millwall will be in the market for a new striker this summer with current top scorer Benik Afobe’s loan expiring at the end of the season.

Afobe, on loan from Stoke City, has found the net 10 times in the Championship this term, including four in his last five appearances.

The Lions are currently 10th in the division, just three points behind Sheffield United who occupy the final play-off place with four games to go.

In other news, Tottenham are plotting a sensational signing and he’s keen to join.
