Sources: Multiple clubs make moves to sign Man City star Jadel Katongo
Multiple clubs have made moves to sign Man City defender Jadel Katongo, sources have told Football Insider.
The centre-back, 18, has been the subject of loan enquiries from a number of EFL clubs, while teams in France and Germany have also enquired about signing him on a permanent deal.
City could allow Katongo to leave on loan this summer with the Manchester giants well stocked in the centre-back department in the first-team and academy.
Katongo’s potential availability has alerted a number of clubs keen on striking a loan deal, while his suitors in France and Germany are eager to offer the teenager a quicker pathway to first-team football than is currently on offer at the Etihad Stadium.
The young defender played over 5,000 minutes of youth football in 2022/23, including 30 appearances in the U18 Premier League, 16 appearances in Premier League 2 and seven appearances in the Uefa Youth League.
He scored five goals last season and assisted once as he helped City win both the U18 Premier League and Premier League 2.
Katongo also finds himself in demand on the international stage, with the defender the focal point of a tug-of-war between England and Zambia over his international allegiance.
The England Under-18 star turned down the chance to join the Three Lions’ Under-19s setup for a training camp this summer.

Zambia are hopeful that they can persuade Katongo to snub England in favour of them.
Zambia coach Avram Grant has invited Katongo to train with the nation’s first team ahead of their AFCON qualifiers.
