Sources: Newcastle United line up new Anthony Gordon bid amid £40m reveal

Newcastle United are lining up a new move for Everton sensation Anthony Gordon, sources from the club have told Football Insider.

The Toffees knocked back a £35million offer from the north-east club for Gordon, 21, last month.

But Newcastle have not given up hope of luring Gordon and are readying a new bid before the transfer window shuts.

Eddie Howe is willing to cash in on Allan Saint-Maximin to raise funds for new signings.

Everton have already sold Richarlison to Tottenham this summer and have lost Dominic Calvert-Lewin until October at least due to a knee injury.

They are in the market for attacking signings of their own going into the final fortnight of the window.

Everton have opened talks on a new deal with Gordon, and it would take an offer of £40million-plus to potentially trigger a deal.

The winger has three years remaining on his contract at Goodison Park.

Gordon has started both of Everton’s Premier League fixtures this season.

He spearheaded Frank Lampard’s attack on Saturday in a 2-1 loss to Aston Villa.

The Magpies are in search of attacking reinforcements this month.

They have had bids for James Maddison and Jack Harrison rejected by Leicester City and Leeds United respectively.

Eddie Howe’s side drew 0-0 with Brighton at the Amex Stadium on Saturday.

Man City travel to St. James’ Park on Sunday (21 August).

In other news, a pundit has predicted this is when Martin Dubravka could leave Newcastle United amid a confession from Eddie Howe.
