Sources: Newcastle United’s long-term Dominic Solanke signing plan revealed
Newcastle United are planning to sign a striker this year amid interest in Bournemouth star Dominic Solanke, sources have told Football Insider.
A well-placed source has told Football Insider that Magpies boss Eddie Howe is a “big fan” of Solanke, 26, after signing him during his time with the Cherries.
Howe has spoken publicly to deny that Newcastle have enquired about the England international’s availability – insisting the club “don’t have the ability to sign a player of that level”.

But it is believed that the mega-rich Magpies are keen to add a striker in the summer window.
Their plans come amid injury problems for Callum Wilson and Alexander Isak, who have missed a big portion of games so far in the 2023-24 campaign.
Solanke has scored 13 goals in 22 appearances across all competitions – with 12 of those strikes coming in the Premier League.
He has won the league’s Player of the Month award after hitting six strikes in December.
The 26-year-old has already recorded his best-ever top-flight campaign, with his previous best goalscoring season coming in the 2022-23 campaign – when he scored six.
He joined Howe’s Bournemouth side in 2019 for a reported £19million plus add-ons and scored four goals in 46 games under the now-Newcastle boss.
Solanke has since kicked on with the Cherries and has now scored 69 goals in 196 games for the south coast club.
He signed a new contract on the south coast in September, keeping him at the Vitality Stadium until June 2027.

Newcastle sit ninth in the table as injury issues take their toll, with Howe’s side also out of European competition for the 2023-24 campaign.
Isak has recently returned to action but Wilson remains out with a calf problem.
