Sources: Norwich City agree deal to sign Gabriel Forsyth

Norwich City are set to finalise the signing of Hamilton Academical youngster Gabriel Forsyth later this week, sources have told Football Insider.

The Championship club have agreed a six-figure deal with Hamilton for the highly-rated Scotland Under-17 international.

Forsyth, 16, made five appearances for Hamilton last season and triggered huge interest south of the border.

Football Insider first reported Norwich’s interest in Forsyth in May, when the Championship club were closing in on a deal for the 16-year-old.

The Canaries made a move for the teenager as they view him as an exciting prospect who could develop into a key first-team player.

Forsyth primarily plays in an advanced midfield role, but has shown his versatility by playing centrally for both Hamilton and Scotland.

He was first capped by his nation at Under-17 level in 2022, making his debut in a 6-0 win over Malta.

Forsyth has made a further two U17’s appearances, with the latest coming in a 1-0 loss to Hungary in February 2023.

Forsyth will arrive at Carrow Road as a young prospect but coaches will hope that he can quickly start to impact the senior squad after being impressed by his ability.

Norwich

Norwich endured an underwhelming Championship campaign in 2022/23, finishing 13th – seven points from the playoff spots.

David Wagner was brought in as manager in January after a poor start to the season, but he was unable to salvage their promotion hopes.
