Sources: Norwich City respond to new Max Aarons offer from Borussia Mochengladbach

Norwich City have rejected a loan-to-buy offer from Borussia Monchengladbach for Max Aarons, sources have told Football Insider.

The German club, managed by former Canaries boss Daniel Farke, submitted an offer to take the defender, 22, on loan with an option to buy at the end of the spell.

Norwich have rejected the offer for the right-back as Dean Smith plots an immediate return to the Premier League.

Aarons, who is understood to have received assurances that he can leave Carrow Road this summer should a suitable offer be submitted, has been an ever-present for Norwich in the Championship so far this term.

Smith’s side were relegated from the Premier League at the end of the 2021-22 season.

The right-back has featured in all nine of the Canaries’ games this season, including their short-lived EFL Cup run.

The defender has scored one goal during those appearances.

Aarons stepped up to Norwich’s senior team in 2018 after a year with the club’s under-21 side.

He was once reportedly coveted by Barcelona and has been previously linked with a move to the Premier League.

The 22-year-old currently has two years remaining on his contract at Carrow Road after last signing an extension in the summer of 2019.

The England under-21 international made 35 appearances for the club last season.
