Sources: Nottingham Forest battle rivals for Marco Silva as door opens for Fulham exit

Fulham fear losing Marco Silva in the near future amid ongoing speculation about his position and strong Nottingham Forest interest.

Silva was left unsettled at Fulham after a difficult transfer window, despite some big-money deals getting over the line later in the summer.

As a result, there have been suggestions he could be prepared to leave the club when his contract expires in 2026, with multiple clubs believed to be keeping tabs on him.

Football Insider exclusively revealed in August that Nottingham Forest considered Silva to replace Nuno Espirito Santo, and he has since been linked with the role again.

However, Ange Postecoglou appears to be safe in his role at Forest as things stand, opening the door for rival clubs to swoop should Silva opt to leave Fulham.

Saudi Pro League clubs tracking Marco Silva

With Silva’s future at Craven Cottage far from secure, a number of Saudi Pro League clubs are believed to be keeping a close eye on his situation.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, Silva has been a long-term target for Saudi clubs, who have been placed on alert by his situation.

A number of clubs across Europe are also believed to be keeping tabs on Silva, but the lingering interest from Saudi Pro League clubs makes a move to the Middle East likely.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Marco Silva is a top manager. He’s proved that at Fulham. He’s done a very good job there, but his future is a bit up in the air.

“I think his contract expires in the summer of 2026. So potentially he could be free come the end of the season, which will be interesting.

“If Silva doesn’t agree a new deal at Fulham, or Fulham are unable to sort out his long-term future, there is the possibility that maybe he could be a free agent in the summer and I’m sure there’ll be a number of clubs who would be interested in Silva.

“There’s been talk of interest before previously from the Saudi Pro League in Silva as well. It would be very difficult for them to do anything I think this season.

“Fulham won’t want to lose the manager there, but come next summer, who knows, with Silva being out of contract it really does open the possibility of a move away.”

Meanwhile, Fulham are fearing the worst over Silva’s future and the possibility that he could be tempted away upon the expiry of his contract in West London.

Door opens for Silva to leave Fulham amid Saudi interest

Football Insider exclusively revealed on 4 September that Silva is not happy at Fulham and would be open to leaving after growing frustrated with the club.

Silva has left the door open for his potential departure at the end of the season, as there is now less than a year remaining on his current contract.

Meanwhile, Nottingham Forest are interested in appointing Silva should they decide to part ways with Postecoglou amid growing pressure on his position.

Silva has also been linked with the Man United job, although Ruben Amorim appears to be safe in his position after Sir Jim Ratcliffe lent his public backing.

This comes after Paul Merson tipped Silva to quit Fulham, suggesting he could jump at the chance to move on given the club’s apparent lack of ambition.
