Sources: Nottingham Forest star Alex Mighten undergoing Sheffield Wednesday medical today

Nottingham Forest winger Alex Mighten is undergoing a Sheffield Wednesday medical on Monday (29 August), sources have told Football Insider.

The England youth international, 20, has agreed terms with the League One giants.

Forest have given the green light to Mighten to go on loan to Wednesday for the rest of the season.

He has made two appearances for Forest this season, including his Premier League debut on the opening day, and was on the bench for the 2-0 loss to Tottenham on Sunday (28 August).

The USA-born ace still has three years left on his contract at the City Ground after he signed a new deal in the summer of 2020 but Steve Cooper wants him to play regular football.

Sheffield Wednesday have already made 10 signings this summer and have bolstered their attacking ranks with the arrivals of Michael Smith and Mallik Wilks.

Darren Moore wants to guide the Owls to promotion after they lost to Sunderland in the League One play-off semi-finals last season.

They are currently third in the league after winning four of their opening six league games.

Despite his tender age, Mighten will offer Wednesday good experience after making 55 Championship appearances for Forest, including 18 starts.

He has scored four goals and provided two assists in the process.

His form earned him a call-up to the England Under-20s last September and he now has 30 youth caps across the age groups from the Under-15s up.

In other news, a Premier League club have blocked a Nottingham Forest move from signing a centre-back.
