Victor Wanyama is ready to hold crunch talks about quitting Tottenham as the club close in on the marquee signing of Tanguy Ndombele, Football Insider understands.

The Kenya international, 28, has slipped down the pecking order at Spurs over the last two seasons after suffering extensive knee problems.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider that Wanyama will seek talks with Mauricio Pochettino about his future as he set about looking for a new club.

That will mean Wanyama being pushed even further down the central midfield roster after he was an unused substitute in the Champions League final at the start of this month.

Moussa Sissoko and Harry Winks were established as Pochettino's preferred partnership by the end of last season, and they are set to be fighting with Ndombele for a regular starting role next season.

Wanyama is aware there are major question marks over his future even though he has been signed twice by Pochettino, first at Southampton in 2013 and then at Tottenham three years later.

The midfield powerhouse was a key man in his first season at Spurs, when he was Mousa Dembele's regular partner as the club secured a second-place league finish and their record Premier League points tally.

He has made 93 appearances in total for the north Londoners.
