Sources: Portsmouth and Lincoln makes moves to sign Swansea star Cullen

Portsmouth and Lincoln City have made moves to sign Swansea City forward Liam Cullen, Football Insider can exclusively reveal.

The Welsh club are likely to make the 22-year-old available for loan in the upcoming January window.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Portsmouth and Lincoln have both made enquires about taking Cullen for the second half of the season.

The striker has been a regular among the matchday squad under Russell Martin this season, missing just one league game.

He has made four starts and has come off the bench to make a further eight appearances in the Championship.

However, he has been used less frequently by Martin in recent weeks.

Cullen has been an unused substitute for six of Swansea’s last nine league outings.

As such, the Swans are considering sanctioning a loan move in January to give him more game time.

His potential availability has caught the attention of several League One sides.

As revealed by Football Insider last month (19 November), MK Dons, Lincoln, Fleetwood and Cheltenham are all interested in Cullen.

It is understood Portsmouth and Lincoln have now approached Swansea about a temporary deal for the Wales under-21 international.

Pompey are looking to bolster their attack next month in a bid to boost their hopes of a play-off spot.

The south-coast outfit are the joint seventh-lowest scorers in the division.

Meanwhile, Lincoln want to sign Cullen to stave off the threat of relegation.

The Imps currently sit 18th, three points off the drop zone.

Cullen has played 37 times for Swansea to date, predominantly in the Championship.
