Sources: Portsmouth in advanced talks to sign Fleetwood Town star Paddy Lane
Portsmouth are in advanced talks to sign Fleetwood Town winger Paddy Lane on deadline day, sources have told Football Insider.
Fleetwood are willing to let Lane, 21, leave Highbury having dropped down the pecking order under Scott Brown.
Portsmouth boss John Mousinho is keen to bolster his side’s attacking options and he has targeted a deal for the attacker.
Lane was signed by Fleetwood from non-league side Hyde United in 2021 and he has broken into the Northern Ireland set-up during his time at Fleetwood.
Lane has made three appearances for the Norther Ireland national team since his first call up for international friendlies last March.
The winger was an unused substitute for the majority of the Nations League fixtures in September.
The Northern Irishman has made 24 appearances for Brown’s side so far this season and has scored three goals during those outings.
Lane was in the starting lineup for Fleetwood’s 1-1 FA Cup draw with Sheffield Wednesday and helped his side to secure a replay as they look to push forward in the competition.
Speaking to club media after the game (28 January), the manager praised Lane’s contribution to the goal that keeps them in the competition.

Portsmouth are currently 11th in League One with 37 points from 26 games and have won two of their last five games.
They will be hoping to have Lane in the squad when they face Barnsley on Saturday (4 February).
In other news, according to sources, Fleetwood Town agree deal for Peterborough United star Jack Marriott.
