Sources: Premier League clubs race to sign Robert Lewandowski ahead of Barcelona exit

Robert Lewandowski will have a queue of teams waiting to sign him if he leaves Barcelona in the summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The 37-year-old sees his contract with the Catalan giants expire at the end of the current campaign, and reportedly the club have no plans to offer him a new deal.

Lewandowski has already scored four league goals in seven games for Hansi Flick’s side so far this season, alongside Manchester United loanee Marcus Rashford in the frontline.

However, Barcelona look set to end the Polish striker’s four-year spell at the club, which would make him available on a free transfer next summer.

Premier League clubs face plenty of competition for Robert Lewandowski

Sources say that there will likely be a number of Premier League clubs interested in Lewandowski if he becomes a free agent.

The former Bayern Munich man has never played in the English top-flight across the course of his long-established career.

However, there will also be competition for the Pole’s signature from teams in the Saudi Pro League, as well as the MLS.

Lewandowski has attracted attention from Saudi Arabia in the past, and reportedly received a big-money offer to go to the Middle East in the summer of 2024, but decided to stay at Barcelona.

Lewandowski still has the ability for the Premier League

Next August, Lewandowski will turn 38, but in recent times he has shown that he still has the quality required to be a striker at the top level.

Last season, the Poland international scored 42 goals in 52 games across all competitions for Barcelona, including 27 in La Liga as they won the title.

While not quite being on the level of Harry Kane, Erling Haaland, and Kylian Mbappe in terms of goalscoring this term, he is still contributing at a significant rate.

Therefore, if he were to make the move to the Premier League, there is no doubt he would still be a valuable asset.
