Sources: QPR race Championship clubs to appoint Erik ten Hag ally
QPR are among a number of Championship clubs targeting Ajax coach Michael Reiziger to be their next manager, sources have told Football Insider.
The 49-year-old is set to leave the Amsterdam club at the end of the season when his current contract expires.
It is understood that Reiziger wants to progress into management and a number of English Championship clubs have already registered interest in appointing him next season.
Reiziger worked alongside current Man United boss Erik ten Hag at Ajax, helping the club to win three league titles under his stewardship.
He first joined the Dutch club in 2017 when he took charge of the reserves side. He led the squad to the league title in his first year in charge.
Reiziger also experienced a brief stint as Ajax interim manager following Marcel Keizer’s sacking, before taking up the opportunity to become the assistant manager.
As a player, Reiziger played for Ajax, AC Milan, Barcelona and Middlesbrough, and it is understood that he is excited by the opportunity to return to English football as a coach.
QPR find themselves in a relegation fight in the Championship after a promising start to the campaign.
Gareth Ainsworth took charge of the club in February after ex-boss Michael Beale left to take charge of Rangers.

Ainsworth has failed to settle down at the club and QPR have won just one of their last 10 league fixtures leaving them in 21st place in the Championship.
QPR are eager to replace Ainsworth with Reiziger but understand the Dutch coach will wait until next season to take his first managerial job.
