Sources: Ralf Rangnick to work six days a month for Man United

Ralf Rangnick will work six days a month for Man United next season, Football Insider understands.

The club’s former interim manager has recently agreed to take over as Austria manager on a two-year contract.

But a United source has told Football Insider that Rangnick will continue to work for the club as a consultant at the same time.

It is believed his commitment to United is for six days a month and will earn him £20,000-a-month.

Rangnick joined the Red Devils as interim manager until the end of the 2021/22 season back in November.

The club confirmed the 63-year-old would then remain on board in a consultancy role for a further two years.

Manchester United revealed in April that Erik ten Hag would take over as Rangnick’s successor at the end of the season.

Despite agreeing a two-year deal to take charge as Austria manager, the German will continue as a consultant on a part-time basis.

Rangnick left his sporting director’s position at Locomotiv Moscow to replace Ole Gunnar Solskjaer on a temporary basis.

His last management position prior to Man United was at RB Leipzig, where he moved into an executive role in 2019.

United won 10 of their 24 league games during the German’s reign as they finished sixth in the top-flight table.

In terms of cup competitions, they were knocked out of the Champions League by Atletico Madrid at the last-16 stage.

Meanwhile, Middlesbrough dumped them out of the FA Cup on penalties in the fourth round.

In total, he won 11, drew nine and lost nine of his 28 games in charge of the north west giants.
