Sources: Rangers already have plan for permanent Andreas Skov Olsen transfer

Rangers will “definitely” explore the possibility of turning Andreas Skov Olsen’s loan switch into a permanent deal, sources have told Football Insider.

The Dane has only just arrived at Ibrox on a deal until the end of the season, but there are already plans in place to trigger the £8.6million option that was agreed as part of the deal.

Rangers fans are already in love with Skov Olsen, and with the club already keen to keep hold of him beyond the end of the initial agreement, sources say that it is now in the winger’s hands to prove that he wants to be part of the project long-term.

Danny Rohl’s side have fought their way back into the Premiership title race, and the hope is that the 26-year-old can hit the ground running and force the club’s hand into shelling out the big fee for a permanent deal.

How will Andreas Skov Olsen arrival affect Oliver Antman?

Football Insider revealed on Sunday that Oliver Antman still has a part to play at Rangers in the second half of the season.

The Finland international has started just six games in the Premiership since his arrival from Go Ahead Eagles for an initial fee of around £3m last summer.

Antman notched 21 goal involvements for the Dutch side last term, but he has managed just a solitary assist for Rangers in the league since he completed the switch, and hasn’t started a game since November.

There had been suggestions that Skov Olsen’s arrival at Ibrox could already spell the end for Antman, given how out of favour he has been since Rohl’s arrival.

However, the German still plans to utilise the wideman as part of his squad in the second half of the campaign, despite the increased competition that has come through the door.

Rangers get huge Lawrence Shankland boost

Rangers are desperately trying to chase down Hearts at the top of the Premiership table, and they have just been handed a major boost to their title hopes in the coming weeks.

The table-toppers confirmed on Tuesday that talismanic striker Lawrence Shankland is set to miss six to eight weeks due to a hamstring injury, which serves as a huge blow to Derek McInnes’ side.

The 30-year-old is the Premiership’s top goalscorer with 11 league goals to his name so far this term, and he will now be absent for Hearts’ upcoming fixtures against both Rangers and Celtic.

Rohl and Co. have been chasing Hearts and waiting for them to show signs of slipping up for several months now, and they will be hoping that this update can seriously derail their campaign.
