Sources: Rangers make Nedim Bajrami transfer plan after Danny Rohl’s reveal

Rangers could opt to keep Nedim Bajrami beyond the January transfer window as he continues to work his way back into their first-team plans.

This comes after Danny Rohl explained the 26-year-old’s performances both in training and as a substitute have placed him in contention for more regular minutes.

As I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track podcast, if Bajrami continues to impress Rohl with his attitude and recent displays, there will be no urgency from Rangers to accept offers for him in the January window.

Bajrami looked set to leave Rangers under Russell Martin’s stewardship, and was frozen out of the squad, but has been brought in from the cold under the new boss.

The attacking midfielder impressed during his cameo performance in Rangers’ 2-1 win against Livingston and now looks set to be handed a chance to prove his worth.

Nedim Bajrami to decide Rangers future

Football Insider revealed that Rohl would be made to work with his Rangers squad and the players available to him given concerns about spending big in January.

Bajrami has become a clear example of that plan, working his way back into the squad and helping to bolster the squad in what is a key position for the boss.

As a result, there are now doubts about whether he could move on in January, and as long as he continues to impress, Rangers plan to keep him around.

Speaking on the Inside Track podcast, I explained: “Yeah, obviously Danny Rohl has given Bajrami the chance to fight for his place in his plans.

“He was brought in from the cold when he came off the bench against Livingston and helped Rangers pick up that 2-1 win, and Rohl said he was impressed with him.

“So it’s really up to Barami right now if he wants to have a future at Rangers.

“He’s going to have to fight for it. Obviously we do expect there will be massive changes at Rangers over the next couple of transfer windows under Danny Rohl.

“He will be looking to bring in his own players and move on players that are surplus to requirements.

“So it’s pretty open right now for Barami. If he continues to do well in training then he probably will get more minutes in the first team and then the rest is up to him really.”

James Tavernier to hold talks over Rangers future

Bajrami is not the only Rangers star whose future is up in the air as things stand, as speculation continues to surround the future of James Tavernier at Ibrox.

Football Insider revealed on 23 November that Tavernier will hold talks over his Rangers future ahead of the January window amid interest from elsewhere.

As things stand, Tavernier could quit Rangers for free in the summer of 2026 and he is likely to have suitors across Europe should he decide to walk away.

Tavernier could have left Rangers during the summer amid speculation linking the Rangers man with moves to Turkey or Saudi Arabia, but he opted to remain at Ibrox.

However, despite the interest from elsewhere, it remains possible the right-back could extend his deal with a view to finishing his career at Rangers given his age.
