Sources: Rangers register interest in signing In-beom Hwang

Rangers have registered their interest in Olympiacos’ In-beom Hwang, sources have told Football Insider.

The Gers have been heavily scouting in Greece and have watched Hwang on multiple occasions, with scouts hugely impressed by Hwang’s performances.

The 26-year-old’s contract at Olympiacos runs until 2025 after he joined from Rubin Kazan last summer.

The midfielder has made 33 appearances for the Greek side across all competitions this season and has scored four goals and provided four assists in those outings.

The South Korea international featured for his country in the World Cup in Qatar where he made four appearances during a campaign that saw them reach the round of 16.

The centre-mid was in the starting lineup for the side’s impressive win over Portugal that secured their place in the last 16 before being defeated by Brazil.

The Light Blues are currently set to lose three senior midfield players for free this summer when their contracts expire.

Ryan Jack, Steven Davis and Scott Arfield will all be free agents at the end of the season if they cannot agree new deals with the Ibrox club.

On 5 April, Football Insider revealed that Jack, 31, is expected to be offered a new deal in the coming weeks with Michael Beale keen to keep hold of the midfielder.

Last month (15 March), this site also revealed that Gers chiefs are ready to green light a new contract for Arfield for a potential 12 month extension.

The Gers could also lose Alfredo Morelos, Ryan Kent, Allan McGregor and Filip Helander for free at the end of the season when their contracts expire.
