Sources: Rangers set to open talks over new Robbie Ure deal

Rangers are set to open new contract talks with rising star Robbie Ure, sources have told Football Insider.

The striker, 18, is regarded as a forward of immense promise by the club and they want to tie him down to a long-term deal.

Ure’s current deal is due to expire in the summer of 2023.

The youngster marked his first-team debut in Tuesday’s (30 August) Scottish League Cup win over Queen of the South with a goal.

He slammed home from close range after good work down the left from Fashion Sakala and Glen Kamara.

The 18-year-old has already featured seven times for Rangers B in Lowland League competition this term – scoring twice and laying on three assists.

Ure featured on the bench for Rangers during their Champions League qualifying play-off second leg against PSV Eindhoven last week (24 August).

The Glasgow-born youngster is no stranger to European competition – having netted twice in four UEFA Youth League outings last term.

Rangers will hope Ure joins fellow youngster Adam Devine, 19, in pledging his future to the Ibrox giants.

Football Insider revealed on Wednesday (31 August) that Devine’s new deal, which runs until the summer of 2025, will be announced imminently.

Rangers have been beaten just once in 10 outings so far in the new campaign – and sealed their qualification to the Champions League group stages last week.
