Sources: Rangers submit Arron Lyall offer

Rangers have offered 19-year-old midfielder Arron Lyall a one-year contract extension, sources have told Football Insider.

Lyall’s current deal is set to expire in the summer unless he agrees the extra year at Ibrox.

The 19-year-old has impressed the Gers’ coaching staff and was promoted to training with the first-team squad at Auchenhowie earlier this year.

Despite impressing senior coaches, Lyall hasn’t had his chance to prove himself in the first team but has enjoyed plenty of game time for the B team.

This season, he has made 37 appearances for the youth side across all competitions and has scored 13 goals and provided three assists in those outings.

The midfielder spent a spell on loan with Inverness Caledonian Thistle in the 2020-21 season where he made four appearances for the Scottish side.

The Light Blues will be hoping to tie down the academy product to an extension as they look to bolster their youth ranks.

The Gers have not been afraid to utilise young players in recent seasons.

Under Giovanni van Bronckhorst, Leon King, 19, became a regular in the starting XI as a result of injury but has since fallen down the pecking order due to the addition of defensive assets.

Alex Lowry and Adam Devine have also made the grade in recent seasons and Lyall will be hoping to follow in their footsteps.

The Gers are in the hunt for midfield reinforcements with Ryan Jack, Scott Arfield and Steven Davis all out of contract in the summer and keeping hold of Lyall could provide backup when they need it.
