
Sources: Rangers tell Josh McPake he’s free to find new club
Rangers have told Josh McPake he’s free to find a new club this summer, Football Insider understands.
The attacker, 20, has spent the second half of the season on loan at English League Two outfit Tranmere Rovers.
An Ibrox source has told Football Insider that Rangers have now given the green light for McPake to secure a permanent transfer.
He has another two years remaining on the contract he signed last year.
Rangers have deemed McPake surplus to requirements after he failed to establish himself in their own team.
The winger has scored one goal in 13 appearances for Tranmere since joining in January.
However, he has managed just three minutes in the last five Rovers matches.
McPake has endured several loan spells away from Rangers – having made only one senior appearance for the Ibrox club.
The Scotland Under-21 international came through the ranks at the Glasgow giants.
The midfielder’s temporary switch to League One Morecambe was cut short in January after struggling to find fitness and regular minutes for the Shrimps.
The Coatbridge-born starlet has also had spells at Harrogate, Dundee, and Greenock Morton.
McPake now looks set to be given the opportunity to find a permanent new home to further his fledgling career this summer.
