Sources: Ratcliffe to launch sensational £250m Man United ‘plan’ immediately

Sir Jim Ratcliffe is ready to launch a sensational £250million investment plan to improve the training facilities and infrastructure at Man United, sources have told Football Insider.

Britain’s richest man is set to take sporting control at Old Trafford with his £1.3billion investment deal set to be completed before the end of the month.

It is understood that the Red Devils are working to announce Ratcliffe’s takeover within the coming days, although it will still be subject to Premier League approval for the next 6-8 weeks.

Once Ratcliffe takes decision-making power at United, he plans to make several sweeping changes within his first few months in charge.

Football Insider revealed on Thursday (21 December) that Ratcliffe has given the green light to cut hundreds of jobs at Old Trafford after deeming the club ‘overstaffed’.

There are further changes ongoing behind the scenes with the club looking for a new CEO, director of football and recruitment team to spearhead INEOS’s rebuild.

Sources have told Football Insider that Ratcliffe has also put aside £250million for his infrastructure ‘masterplan’ which will be invested into United’s Carrington training facilities as soon as his takeover is complete.

Carrington replaced The Cliff as United’s training ground in 2000, and has received very little investment under Glazer ownership over the past 18 years.

United’s facilities were recently criticised by Cristiano Ronaldo following his exit from the club, claiming the training ground had “stopped in time” between his exit in 2009 and his return in 2021.

It is understood that part of Ratcliffe’s infrastructure investment will also go towards improvements at Old Trafford.

The 74,000-capacity stadium has been criticised for it’s leaking roof as well as outdated ticketing system and hospitality features.

The long-term aim of the INEOS group is to expand Old Trafford’s capacity to 90,000.
