Sources reveal why Senne Lammens is destined to fix long-term Man United issue

Senne Lammens has made a near-perfect start to life at Man United after displacing Altay Bayindir at Old Trafford.

Man United beat Sunderland 2-0 before the international break, with the goalkeeper being thrown into the action against the newly promoted side for his debut in front of a packed-out home crowd.

The 23-year-old kept a clean sheet, was confident in the air, and made very few mistakes when controlling his penalty area against an in-form Black Cats side, led brilliantly by Regis Le Bris.

Bayindir was dropped by Ruben Amorim, having failed to convince many of his talents at the Theatre of Dreams, even after Andre Onana swapped life in Manchester for Trabzonspor in Turkey.

Now, it has become crystal clear as to why the manager was so comfortable doing so.

Several sources told iNews (6 October) that they are yet to hear a single bad word uttered about the new shot-stopper, with his attitude behind the scenes clearly paying off.

Not only that, but a source revealed that Lammens is the “first one into training and last one out”, while also confirming that “He does extra sessions all the time, too, whether that is working on his distribution or other things.”

While that is hardly anything that will set the world alight, it is crucial for the young goalkeeper to hit the ground running at Old Trafford, and he is doing everything in his power to make sure that happens.

Man United have struggled in the goalkeeper department for far too long, ever since David De Gea‘s departure in the summer of 2023. Has the club finally found their answer in between the sticks?

Ruben Amorim might not be around long enough to watch Lammens thrive

Lammens is clearly pushing with everything to be the fix that United are so desperate for, but that commanding voice may have come too late to solve the manager’s future.

Mick Brown told Football Insider that Xavi is waiting for Amorim to be sacked, and given his awful start to life with United, that moment could come much sooner than most fans anticipated when hiring him.

He has won just 20 of his 50 games in charge, and after seven matches, the Red Devils are only just inside the top half of the Premier League, with three wins, one draw, and three losses.

The inconsistency is just too great, and until he either fixes the defence or adapts his playing style to suit those already in the squad, he has no hope of turning things around.
