Sources: Sheffield United ace Finley Potter in advanced talks to join Fleetwood Town
Sheffield United defender Finley Potter is in advanced talks to join Fleetwood on a permanent deal, sources have told Football Insider.
Potter, 19, is currently on loan at National League side Barnet, but United are set to cancel that deal to allow the centre-back to make the move to Fleetwood.
He has made 19 appearances for Barnet across all competitions this season and has notched two assists.
The youngster was also on loan with the Bees for the second half of last season, when he helped them reach the National League play-offs and the FA Trophy semi-final.
Now, following impressive performances in non-league, he could jump up two tiers to join League One strugglers Fleetwood.
Potter never made a senior appearance for the Blades but broke into their under-18 side when he was just 16 years old.
The 2004-born ace has also made three appearances for the England under-18 side, earning his debut in June 2022 in a friendly against Austria.
Sheffield United look set to complete a deadline-day deal for a new centre-back, with Football Insider revealing (1 February) that they have scheduled a medical for Nottingham Forest’s Joe Worrall after talks.

Sheffield United sit at the foot of the Premier League table on 10 points after their 3-2 defeat to Crystal Palace on Tuesday evening (30 January), while Fleetwood are at the bottom of League One.
The Blades are next in action on Saturday (3 February) when they face Aston Villa at Bramall Lane, while Fleetwood are set to face Port Vale.
