Sources: Southampton deal to appoint ex-Leeds boss Jesse Marsch collapses
Southampton’s deal to appoint Jesse Marsch as their new manager has collapsed, sources have told Football Insider.
The Saints were on the brink of hiring the recently-departed Leeds boss, 49, after talks reached an advanced stage in recent days.
But it is believed that negotiations have now collapsed at the eleventh hour and Marsch will not become the club’s new manager.

The American was sacked by Leeds United just last Monday (6 February) after a poor run of form left them without a Premier League win since the mid-season World Cup break.
Marsch secured Leeds United’s safety on the final day of the 2021-22 season after succeeding Marcelo Bielsa in the Elland Road hot seat.
Meanwhile, Nathan Jones was relieved of his duties at Southampton on Sunday (12 February) after just one win in seven Premier League games.
The Welshman managed to alienate the Saints fanbase with a host of strange media comments – including a post-match press conference in which he suggested he was one of the best coaches in Europe.
Jones was headhunted by club chief Rasmus Ankersen but with the club sitting bottom of the Premier League – the Dane was left with no choice but to part with the former Luton boss.
Southampton and Leeds United will continue their search for a new boss as they battle to avoid relegation to the second tier this season.
Football Insider revealed on Sunday (12 February) that both sides are interested in former River Plate boss Marcelo Gallardo – but he wants a full pre-season with any new team.

The Whites have announced (14 February) that Michael Skubala will continue to lead the men’s first team for the club’s upcoming fixtures.
Southampton and Leeds will face off in a relegation six-pointer next week (25 February).
