Sources: Stevenage bid for MK Dons star Craig MacGillivray collapses

Stevenage have been priced out of a move for MK Dons goalkeeper Craig MacGillivray, sources have told Football Insider.

Steve Evans’ side are now exploring other options as they look to bring in a new shot-stopper this month.

Taye Ashby-Hammond is currently the only first-team shot-stopper on the books at Stevenage after Krisztián Hegyi was recalled by West Ham.

The Boro are now on the hunt for more depth between the sticks and targetted MacGillivray, 30, who plays week-in, week-out for MK Dons in League Two.

He has made 25 appearances across all competitions so far this season, conceding 33 goals and keeping six clean sheets.

The former Portsmouth ace, who won the EFL Trophy during his time at Fratton Park, only joined MK Dons in the most recent summer window.

MacGillivray, who was called up to the senior Scotland side back in 2019, has made 266 career appearances – with almost 200 of those outings coming in League One.

Carlisle have also been widely linked with the 30-year-old.

First-choice Stevenage shot-stopper Ashby-Hammond signed for Stevenage permanently last summer after spending the 2022-23 campaign on loan at the Lamex Stadium.

He has made 28 appearances across all competitions this term, notching nine clean sheets and conceding 32 goals.
