Sources: Stoke City and Reading plotting to sign ex-Wolves star Sherwin Seedorf

Reading and Stoke are plotting moves for ex-Wolves and Motherwell winger Sherwin Seedorf, Football Insider understands.

Seedorf, who is a relative of the Holland and AC Milan legend Clarence Seedorf, remains a free agent since leaving Motherwell at the end of the 2020-21 season.

The 24-year-old attacker saw injury problems prevent him from signing for a new club in 2021-22, but he is now back to full fitness and looking to sign for a new team.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Championship duo Reading and Stoke have held a long-term interest in Seedorf.

Both clubs are predominantly looking at the free agent and loan market for new signings this summer and Seedorf has again emerged on their radar.

A graduate of the Feyenoord youth system, Seedorf moved to England in 2016 to join the Nike Academy.

The versatile winger signed for Wolverhampton Wanderers in 2017 but failed to make a first-team appearance.

Seedorf did have spells at Bradford City and Jumilla FC before leaving Molineux for Motherwell on a free in 2019.

He played 41 times for the Scottish outfit across two seasons, with three goals and two assists to his name.

The attacker was released at the end of his contract last summer after suffering a knee injury in January 2021.

He underwent surgery last year and has worked his way back up to fitness ahead of the summer.

Long-term admirers Stoke and Reading are both considering moves as they look to bolster their squads.

Reading

Newly-appointed Reading boss Paul Ince is keen to add attacking reinforcements to his side.

Stoke manager Michael O’Neill also needs forwards with Tom Ince and Steven Fletcher out of contract and Josh Maja returning to Bordeaux after his loan spell.

In other news, Stoke are in the hunt to sign Derby County star Nathan Byrne.
