Sources: Sunderland make Noah Sadiki transfer decision

Man United will not be able to land Noah Sadiki this month as Sunderland have no plans to let him leave midway through their impressive first season back in the Premier League.

Sunderland went big in the summer transfer window after promotion to the top flight, with Noah Sadiki joining from Union SG in July for around £15million, alongside several other new faces.

The DR Congo midfielder has been key to the Black Cats’ strong form in this campaign, with 17 Premier League starts up to now as they occupy ninth spot in the table.

Reports of Chelsea’s interest in Sadiki emerged last month, and he clearly has a bright future in the game at just 21-years-old.

Man United have also registered their interest in his signature, but as I revealed on the latest edition of Football Insider’s Transfer Insider podcast, a January move is not set to happen as the Black Cats aim to keep hold of him for now.

Sunderland do not want to sell Sadiki to Man United in January or this summer

Football Insider revealed last month that Sunderland were set to block approaches for Sadiki in the new year amid that interest from both United and Chelsea.

The 21-year-old recently returned from the Africa Cup of Nations to go straight back into Regis Le Bris‘ starting eleven, with the Black Cats wanting to keep him for the foreseeable future as they aim to become an established Premier League club once more.

Speaking on the Transfer Insider podcast, I explained: “Yeah I think it’s going to be nigh-on impossible to get him out, especially in this January window.

There’s no chance that Sunderland would even contemplate letting Sadiki go. He has been a major success for the Black Cats since his arrival from Union Saint-Gilloise in Belgium.

“He’s been a regular starter for Regis Le Bris and has been instrumental to Sunderland’s superb form in their first season back in the Premier League.

Sunderland are an ambitious club. They don’t want to be losing or selling any of their top players, and he is under a long-term contract until 2030.

So yeah, I don’t think Manchester United will have much hope of persuading Sunderland to do business for Sadiki. They want to build on their success this season.

They’ll be looking to strengthen again in the summer and go again. So, I think with the ambitious plans that Sunderland have got, they won’t want to be losing players like Sadiki.

I don’t think United have got much hope of landing him, definitely not in this window. And again, as I said, Sunderland will do everything they can to keep hold of the player next summer and beyond.

Sunderland in talks to sign Jonas Omlin as goalkeeper competition

The foundations of Sunderland’s impressive performances this season have been built on a strong defensive structure, with only two teams conceding fewer than their 23 against so far.

Summer signing Robin Roefs has been one of the Premier League’s best shot-stoppers, but Football Insider recently revealed that Sunderland have opened talks to sign Borussia Monchengladbach keeper Omlin on loan.

The 32-year-old is yet to feature for Gladbach this season, after keeping eight clean sheets in 36 appearances in the two-and-a-half years prior.

His arrival would likely see Millwall-linked back-up stopper Anthony Patterson depart the Stadium of Light after being ousted as Le Bris’ number one by Roefs.
