Sources: Tottenham could appoint interim manager after Thomas Frank sack latest
Tottenham could appoint an interim manager until the end of the season if they decide to sack Thomas Frank, sources have told Football Insider.
Frank’s job at Spurs is hanging by a thread, and he could even be shown the door if his team are beaten by West Ham on home turf this weekend, although there is an acceptance from the hierarchy that sacking the Dane is “the last thing they want to do.”
Oliver Glasner has emerged as an early contender to take over from Frank if he is sacked in the coming weeks, and sources have outlined that Tottenham could turn to an interim chief to lead them until the Austrian’s contract at Crystal Palace expires.
The 51-year-old is set to become a free agent this summer, and it is viewed as highly unlikely that Spurs would be able to tempt him away from Selhurst Park before then.
However, there are several clubs that are showing an interest in Glasner, and an appointment would not be straightforward for the North Londoners.

Oliver Glasner keen to take top Premier League job
Football Insider revealed last week that Glasner would welcome the chance to manage Manchester United in the aftermath of Ruben Amorim’s dismissal at Old Trafford.
The former Eintracht Frankfurt boss has also been heavily linked with that job, although the Red Devils now appear set to appoint Michael Carrick on an interim basis until the end of the season.
Short-term appointments have been a running theme of late, with Tottenham prepared to go down that route if needed, and Celtic also reverting back to Martin O’Neill to buy themselves time for a permanent move.
| Stats | Frank | Glasner |
| Games | 173 | 72 |
| Wins | 61 | 27 |
| Draws | 44 | 24 |
| Losses | 68 | 21 |
| Win % | 35.26% | 37.5% |
However, if Tottenham are to secure Glasner’s services in the event that they sack Frank, then they may have to battle Manchester United, who look set to be fishing in a very similar market for their next boss in the summer.

Glasner is keen on the United vacancy, and Vinai Venkatesham and the rest of the Spurs hierarchy will be hoping that he is keen to test himself at any top Premier League club, rather than just at Old Trafford.
Tottenham board to show caution in January window
Former Manchester City financial advisor Stefan Borson recently told Football Insider that Tottenham are “not convinced” by Frank, and are likely to approach the January transfer window with caution as a result.
The Lilywhites appear set to seal the signing of Conor Gallagher from Atletico Madrid after pushing past Aston Villa in the race for his signature, but lavish spending is not expected from them in the remainder of the month.
Borson suggested that the Lilywhites will want to avoid splashing the cash on players for a manager who they could decide to sack in the coming weeks, and may instead look to spend big next summer.
He also cited recent expensive outlays on the likes of Xavi Simons and Mohammed Kudus as further evidence that a cautious approach is expected.
