Sources: Tottenham could recall Mikey Moore from Rangers

Tottenham could recall Mikey Moore from his Rangers loan in January, sources have told Football Insider.

The Spurs sensation, 18, has had a stop-start campaign at Ibrox and is believed to be unhappy with his playing role.

Russell Martin has deployed Moore on both forward flanks but has often instructed him to tuck inside rather than stay out wide.

Sources with knowledge of Moore’s situation believe this is why Rangers are yet to see the best of the hugely promising youngster.

Spurs have the option to recall Moore in mid-season and take him back, or, as is more likely, loan him out to another club.

Rangers beat a vast number of clubs, including Birmingham City and Middlesbrough, to land the England Under-19 international on loan after agreeing to pay his Spurs wages in full.

Mikey Moore could return to Tottenham

Moore joined Rangers on loan from Tottenham in the summer and has made seven appearances across all competitions for his new club, notching one assist from his 372 minutes of action.

The 18-year-old is yet to score a goal for the Light Blues, having made two starts in three Scottish Premiership outings.

The Glasgow outfit have failed to get the best out of Moore at a time when they are one place from rock bottom of the 12-team Scottish Premiership, yielding no wins from five league attempts.

Martin’s failure to get the best out of Moore, who showed promise in his 19 appearances for Tottenham last season, is just one example of the woes he has overseen at Ibrox.

Moore has struggled at Rangers

After failing to qualify for the Champions League, the Light Blues had hoped that the Europa League would offer them some respite from their poor domestic season.

However, Rangers were beaten 1-0 by Genk on Thursday, 25 September, leaving Martin on increasingly thin ice at Ibrox.

The Bears face a vital opportunity to earn their first win of the Scottish Premiership campaign when they face Livingston on Sunday, 28 September.

However, failure to beat David Martindale’s side could spell the end of the road for Martin, who hasn’t learned from the mistakes of his Southampton tenure.

Meanwhile, Moore could have an opportunity to prove his worth elsewhere if Tottenham recall him and choose to deploy his loan services away from Ibrox.
