Sources: Tottenham in advanced talks over eighth signing as Alejo Veliz set for medical
Tottenham are ready to make forward Alejo Veliz their eighth summer signing after agreeing a deal worth £12.9million plus add-ons, sources have told Football Insider.
Spurs are in advanced talks with Rosario Central over a deal for the 19-year-old, who could yet sign and return there on loan.
A medical is set to take place in the next few days as Tottenham look to also finalise the capture of Wolfsburg defender Micky van de Ven, who has agreed to join in a £43m deal.
Spurs have already wrapped up six deals in the form of Pedro Porro, Dejan Kulusevski, James Maddison, Guglielmo Vicario, Manor Solomon and imminent new arrival Ashley Phillips.
Rosario are resigned to losing Veliz to Spurs, with the main point of discussion over a potential buy-to-loan.
The second phase of the Argentine Primera Division starts in late August and runs until mid-November.
Spurs consider Veliz, who starred for Argentina in the Under-20 World Cup earlier this year, a player for the future, rather than a potential first-teamer immediately.
The London club see him in a similar mould to Pape Matar Sarr, who signed from Metz in summer 2021 but remained on loan at the French club for a season.

Veliz’s current contract in Argentina runs until 2025 after signing a new deal with the first team last summer.
The striker has made 62 appearances for Rosario across all competitions, netting 19 goals and offering up two assists in those outings.
In other news, Tottenham agree defender deal in principle and will then submit 24-year-old offer.
