Sources: Tottenham striker Parrott quits Millwall & agrees to join Ipswich

Tottenham striker Troy Parrott has agreed a new loan move to Ipswich Town, Football Insider has learned.

The 18-year-old striker’s season-long loan deal at Millwall is set to be terminated today to allow him to join the League One Tractor Boys.

A Tottenham source has told Football Insider the club are taking advantage of the recall option in Parrott’s Millwall deal to end the loan at the halfway stage.

Terms have been agreed with Ipswich and the deal should be finalised by Monday night’s 11pm cut-off.

As revealed by Football Insider, Spurs held talks last month about terminating Parrott’s season-long Millwall loan at the midway point and arranging a new loan move this month.

But that plan was halted as Parrott wanted to stay at the New Den and fight for his place, while manager Gary Rowett offered firm assurances about where the young striker fitted into his plans.

However, Parrott has failed to get the playing time he had hoped for.

He has been an unused substitute in the last three league matches and made it clear he wanted a new team.

A move to Ipswich will see him dropping down a division to League One from the Championship.

Paul Lambert’s side are 11th in the table and struggling to mount a promotion challenge.

Parrott has not made as big an impact at Millwall as all parties had hoped.

This was initially due to injury, with ankle and thigh problems meaning he did not make his Lions debut until 21 November.

Since then, Parrott has made 14 first-team appearances in all competitions.

But he has yet to score for the south Londoners across 792 minutes of action, and has only registered a single assist.
