Sources: Tottenham tell Harry Winks to find new club as asking price revealed

Tottenham have told Harry Winks he is free to find a new club, Football Insider understands.

The midfielder, 26, is deemed surplus to requirements at Spurs by manager Antonio Conte.

A recruitment source has told Football Insider that Tottenham have informed Winks and his representatives they will listen to offers for him this summer.

The Londoners are planning to sell for a fee of around £20m.

The midfielder made 24 appearances under Conte and started eight Premier League matches before seeing his game time decrease in the second half of the season.

The Italian tried to reshape his midfield in January, letting Tanguy Ndombele and Giovani Lo Celso leave the club.

Rodrigo Bentancur arrived from Juventus and was immediately slotted into the starting XI, severely limiting Winks’ chance to play.

He was exclusively used off the bench from February onwards as Spurs turned their season around and earned a return to the Champions League on the final day of the season.

The midfielder has only ever played for Spurs, joining the club’s academy in 2002 and making his senior debut in November 2014.

He has gone on to make 203 appearances for the club but he is now unlikely to make any more.

Conte wants to revamp his squad ahead of next season knowing his side could face a difficult Champions League campaign.

Spurs will be in pot four of the Champions League group stage draw, meaning they could be drawn against two or three of Europe’s elite sides.

Ahead of next season, Spurs will also be boosted by the return of Oliver Skipp, who barely featured in the second half of the 2021-22 campaign.

The 21-year-old was a key player for Nuno Espirito Santo and Conte but did not feature after January following an injury to his pubis symphysis.
