Sources: Tottenham to finalise landmark deal – and then appoint new manager

Tottenham plan to recruit a new Director of Football before appointing a new manager this summer, sources have told Football Insider.

The North London club currently have a vacancy in the role after Fabio Paratici resigned following a 30-month ban due to his involvement in Juventus’ financial scandal.

Tottenham chairman Daniel Levy is now pushing to appoint a new director before the end of the season, with the club already working through a shortlist of targets.

Football Insider sources revealed on Friday (12 May) that Tottenham have opened talks with multiple candidates for the Director of Football role.

It is understood that Tottenham have held talks with Brentford technical director Lee Dykes, but negotiations between the parties are stalling and Spurs are beginning to look elsewhere.

Dykes has overseen Brentford’s player recruitment for the past three years and was responsible for bringing the likes of Bryan Mbeumo and Ivan Toney to the club.

Another target on Tottenham’s radar is Johannes Spors, who oversees recruitment at Genoa, Standard Liege, Red Star FC, Vasco da Gama and Melbourne as the Global Director of 777 Sports.

Tottenham would only appoint Spors if he committed to solely representing the Premier League club in a Sporting Director role.

Tottenham, Daniel Levy

Levy wants a new director appointed as soon as possible so that they can contribute to the club’s search for a new manager this summer.

Spurs are still yet to replace Antonio Conte after the Italian was sacked from his role in March.
