Sources: Vincent Kompany expected to reject Tottenham offer
Vincent Kompany is not expected to quit Burnley this summer despite interest from Premier League giants Tottenham and Chelsea, sources have told Football Insider.
It is believed that while the interest is flattering for the 37-year-old Man City icon, he is keen to take charge of Burnley in the top flight after getting them promoted this term.
A source with knowledge of Kompany’s situation has revealed it is “unlikely” that he leaves Turf Moor to take the vacant hot seat at Tottenham or Chelsea in the off-season.
Both London sides are currently without a manager after below-par 2022-23 campaigns.
Frank Lampard has taken charge at Chelsea until the end of the season, while Antonio Conte’s former assistant Cristian Stellini has been given the Tottenham job on an interim basis.
Chelsea sit 11th in the Premier League, while Spurs are now outsiders in the race to seal a top-four finish this season.
Both sides have been widely linked with out-of-work duo Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique, following their respective sackings at Bayern Munich and the Spanish national side.
Mauricio Pochettino, who was the manager of Tottenham between 2014 and 2019, has also been linked with both vacancies.
Sources told this site last week (14 April) that Brendan Rodgers is interested in being the next Tottenham manager and is expected to be interviewed for the post.
It is believed that Rodgers has been admired for a long time by Spurs chairman Daniel Levy – stretching back to his spell at Swansea a decade ago.
Meanwhile, Kompany will take charge in the Premier League for the first-ever time next season after securing promotion with Burnley this term.

The Belgian, who previously managed Anderlecht, has impressed after his Clarets side demolished all competition to seal a return to the top flight.
Burnley can all but secure the Championship title with a win over Rotherham on Tuesday (18 April).
