Sources: West Ham forward Gideon Kodua opens talks to join Wycombe

West Ham forward Gideon Kodua has opened talks to join Wycombe Wanderers, sources have told Football Insider.

The 19-year-old, who signed his first professional deal with West Ham in December 2022, is now set for his first loan move away to gain valuable first-team experience.

Negotiations are underway between West Ham and Wycombe over a deal until the end of the season.

Kodua, 19, is regarded as a future star at West Ham having come through the youth ranks and winning the Dylan Tombides Award for 2022-23 while captaining the side to FA Youth Cup glory.

A number of clubs have expressed an interest in Kodua, but Wycombe have moved quickly to try and bring him to Adams Park.

The 2004-born attacking midfielder is yet to make his senior debut for the Hammers but is currently enjoying a prolific season with the under-21s.

He has bagged six goals and two assists across 15 appearances in the Premier League 2 and the EFL Trophy.

Kodua has helped guide the young Hammers to second place in the Premier League 2, who have won four consecutive games against Crystal Palace, Nottingham Forest, Liverpool and Middlesbrough.

His versatility has allowed him to play at centre-forward and left-wing as well as his predominant position as an advanced midfielder.
