Sources: West Ham register interest in signing Arsenal star Eddie Nketiah after twist

West Ham have registered their interest in signing wantaway Arsenal striker Eddie Nketiah, Football Insider understands.

The 22-year-old has rejected multiple contract offers from the Gunners ahead of his deal expiring this summer.

A West Ham source has told Football Insider that the club are keen on Nketiah and have asked to be kept informed of developments about his situation after he made up his mind to leave.

The front man is able to sign a pre-contract with an overseas club but has yet to do so despite strong interest from Bundesliga teams.

That has opened the door to Premier League clubs, who can exploit his free agent status from the end of the season.

It would not be a free transfer as Nketiah is aged under 24 and Arsenal would be due a hefty compensation sum of multi millions for development costs.

However, that has not put West Ham off as David Moyes looks to bolster his attacking options this summer.

The Irons were in the market for a new striker during the January transfer window.

As revealed by Football Insider (27 January), the Hammers narrowed their pursuit down to Ben Brereton Diaz and Armando Broja.

However, neither striker joined as Moyes failed to add to his squad during the winter window.

The Hammers have now turned their attention to Nketiah as an available and potentially affordable option.

The hitman has scored five goals in 50 Premier League appearances, the majority of which have come as a substitute.

Arsenal

He has played 18 times for the Gunners this season, despite Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s departure in January.

All five of his goals this term came in the club’s League Cup run.
