Sources: Willian set to agree new Fulham deal after rejecting offer
Fulham are set to tie Willian down to a new deal after stepping up negotiations, sources have told Football Insider.
The 34-year-old’s current Cottagers contract expired last week (30 June) – sparking fears he could walk away from the club for good.
He rejected Fulham’s first offer of a new deal following an impressive showing during the original one-year terms sheet he signed last summer (2022).
But a well-placed source has now told Football Insider that Willian is now “leaning towards” signing extended terms at Craven Cottage.
It is believed a compromise has been made, meaning the veteran winger is now set to prolong his successful Premier League career.
Willian turned out 30 times across all competitions last season, scoring five and assisting six as Fulham consolidated their Premier League status with a 10th-place finish.
He made a sensational return to the Premier League last summer (2022) after leaving Arsenal for Brazil a year earlier following a dismal spell with the Gunners.
The former Brazil international has now turned out 286 times in the English top flight, notching 43 goals and 50 assists.
He lifted two Premier League titles, a League Cup and an FA Cup during his successful seven-year spell at Chelsea.
Fulham have already agreed a key contract this week, with Antonee Robinson pledging his future to the club by penning a five-year deal.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (8 July) that Robinson’s extension comes despite interest from Man City, Newcastle, Wolves, Inter Milan and AC Milan.
Meanwhile, Neeskens Kebano has joined Joe Bryan, Paulo Gazzaniga, Shane Duffy and Steven Sessegnon in departing the club this summer.
