Sources: Wolves braced for Joao Gomes offers – two other stars could go

Wolves are preparing to field offers for Joao Gomes in the upcoming summer window after his impressive start to life in the Premier League, sources have told Football Insider.

Gomes, 22, only joined the Molineux club last year (2023) but is already admired by clubs in the Premier League and in Europe.

The midfielder cost Wolves a reported fee of around £15million and signed a contract running until June 2028 which can be extended by a further 12 months by the club.

Wolves lost the likes of Ruben Neves, Matheus Nunes and Nathan Collins in a fire sale last summer as they desperately scrambled to comply with the Premier League’s Profitability and Sustainability rules.

They managed to avoid punishment, but are still susceptible to losing their best players in future windows as the club’s owners fight to balance the books.

Football Insider revealed on Saturday (20 January) that Wolves are also bracing for offers for star man Hwang Hee-chan – who has hit 11 goals this term.

Liverpool and Tottenham are believed to be monitoring the South Korea international.

Meanwhile, sources have also told Football Insider (21 January) that Arsenal and Liverpool are among the clubs monitoring Wolves defender Rayan Ait-Nouri.

Gomes has been a key part of Gary O’Neil’s side this season, making 20 appearances across all competitions.

He earned his first Brazil call-up in March 2023 but is yet to make a senior appearance for the Selecao.
