Sources: Wolves planning to part with two big names

There are “big question marks” over the future of Wolves stars Raul Jimenez and Diego Costa, sources have told Football Insider.

This site revealed on Tuesday (2 May) that the Molineux club want to bolster their front line with a prolific goalscorer in the summer window.

Costa signed a one-year deal netting him a reported £50,000-a-week when he joined Wolves in September 2022.

The 34-year-old former Chelsea star has turned out 22 times across all competitions this term, but has found the net just once.

Speaking about a potential new deal for Costa on 26 April (as per the Daily Mirror), Wolves boss Julen Lopetegui insisted he is “happy” with the striker’s influence but stopped short of confirming his plans for a renewal.

Meanwhile, it is believed Wolves are open to offers for Raul Jimenez this summer.

The Midlands club looked to sell the Mexico international last year (2022) after an underwhelming 2021-22 campaign which saw him net just six goals.

Jimenez’s 2022-23 campaign has been marred with injury – meaning he is yet to find the net in 13 Premier League outings.

The former Benfica star, who joined Wolves for a then club-record £30million fee in 2019, has not featured in the club’s last six games.

He is a firm fan favourite at Molineux after his goalscoring exploits early on in his time in England – and has scored 57 goals in 164 appearances in Old Gold.

Jimenez has a year left to run on his contract, which nets him a reported wage of £100,000-a-week.

Wolves

Wolves moved to add striker Sasa Kalajdzic from Stuttgart last summer (2022) to solve their goalscoring problems, but the Austria international suffered a serious knee injury on his full debut.

Lopetegui’s side are the lowest scorers in the Premier League having found the net just 29 times this term.
