Sources: Wolves submit £10m Ludovic Ajorque bid

Wolves have had a £10million bid for Strasbourg striker Ludovic Ajorque rejected, sources have told Football Insider.

The Midlands club have made a move for the 6ft 6in front man after Raul Jimenez sustained a serious knee injury.

Strasbourg knocked back Wolves’ offer for Ajorque as they hold out for their £18m asking price to be met.

Everton, Leicester City and Brentford are also keeping close tabs on the striker and watched him in Ligue 1 action against Monaco last weekend.

The forward currently has two years left on his contract at Strasbourg.

Ajorque joined the Ligue 1 club in 2018 from top-flight French side Clermont Foot for a fee of around £2million.

Jimenez, 31, injured his knee in a pre-season friendly against Besiktas on 23 July.

The Mexico international was Wolves’ top goalscorer last season with six goals in 34 league appearances.

Last season’s second-choice striker, Fabio Silva, has left the club to join Anderlecht on loan.

Everton are also looking to bolster their attacking options following a long-term injury to Dominic Calvert-Lewin.

He is set to be sidelined for at least 10 weeks, ruling him out until November.

Wolves lost 2-1 to Leeds United in their first game of the 2022-23 Premier League season (6 August).

Daniel Podence opened the scoring with just six minutes on the clock but his side could not hang on for three points.

Wolves are next in action against Fulham on Saturday (13 August).
