Medical expert: Tino Livramento out until 2023 with ACL injury after ‘sad’ Southampton reveal

Southampton star Tino Livramento may not play again until next year after suffering a suspected anterior cruciate ligament injury.

That is the view of medical expert Ben Dinnery, who runs the Premier Injuries site and has a background in injury and data analysis.

Livramento, 19, required oxygen as he was stretchered off half an hour into the Saints’ 2-2 draw with Brighton last Sunday (24 April).

The knee injury came after what appeared to be a run of the mill coming together with Seagulls midfielder Enock Mwepu.

But as quoted by BBC Sport after the match, Southampton boss Ralph Hasenhuttl revealed that the right-back is now facing a “long break out”.

And Dinnery fears that suspicions that the former Chelsea starlet has damaged his ACL will soon be confirmed.

“My initial thoughts were ACL,” he told Football Insider‘s Adam Williams.

“That is what I’m expecting given the mechanism of injury and how Ralph Hasenhuttl has been talking.

“That is, obviously, season-ending. Then it is likely to be surgery and then it could be the remainder of the calendar year out for Livramento.

“It is really, really unfortunate but sadly that seems to be what we are looking at with this one.”

Livramento signed for Southampton from Chelsea in a £5million deal in August last year.

The promising youngster has been an ever-present for the Saint when fit this season and has registered one goal and two assists in 32 appearances.
