Attacking duo among three Newcastle players fighting for their futures in Royal Antwerp clash

Islam Slimani

Newcastle fans who have made the journey over to Spain, or perhaps happen to live in the local vicinity for Sunday’s clash, may well be the lucky few who get to see Slimani make his first appearance in black and white.

He was a late inclusion into the travelling squad after his injury layoff, and there will still be doubts over whether he actually features against Antwerp as he attempts to get fit for the clash against Huddersfield in two weeks.

If he does make an appearance, it will be a good indicator of where he is at in terms of his recovery, and whether he is ready to return to action and make a competitive debut for the Magpies.

He only has seven games to impress between now and the end of the season, so from Sunday onwards, every minute he is on the pitch could be the difference between both his future game time as well a potential transfer move.
