Attacking duo among three Newcastle players fighting for their futures in Royal Antwerp clash

Newcastle’s big money summer signing, the former Norwich man has gone from first team mainstay to fringe figure since January, partly due to Kenedy’s arrival from Chelsea.

The speed machine has shown glimpses of his true talent but those moments have been too fleeting, and he needs to build some consistency into his displays if he wants to be a regularly featuring for the senior side.

The friendly against Antwerp is the ideal opportunity for him to build his confidence and prove himself in a match day scenario, even if it just demonstrates the impact he can have off the substitutes’ bench.

If he fails to impress, then it could well be the exit door for him over the summer, heading out on loan to further develop himself and come back a stronger player in six months or a year.

Put in a starring role, and he could pose a threat to the likes of Kenedy and Matt Ritchie for the final eight games of the season.
