Spotted: 24 hours after Caixinha claimed he would miss out, senior Rangers ace arrives at Partick

Kenny Miller has been spotted at Partick Thistle’s Firhill Stadium just 24 hours after Pedro Caixinha said he would be given the night off.

The veteran striker has been a key part of Caixinha’s plans since taking over at Ibrox but the Portuguese boss revealed yesterday that he was planning to give Miller a break when his team-mates go into action in the Scottish League Cup quarter-final.

Miller has come in for criticism from fans in recent weeks over the quality of his performances and his sighting at Firhill could have fans worried that Rangers’ mini injury crisis has forced him back into the manager’s plans tonight.

The 37-year-old was spotted in a picture tweeted by Rangers full-back James Tavernier alongside Wes Foderingham, Graham Dorrans and Jason Holt.

Caixinha told a media conference earlier this week that MIller would be given the night off to spend with his family and get away from football, however, the 70-time capped former Scotland striker is part of the Gers’ travelling party at Firhill.

Last season, Miller was regularly helping out with coaching Graeme Murty’s Under-20 side as he works towards his coaching badges in preparation for the end of his playing career.

It’s likely the striker is just there continue his education with Eduardo Herrera and Alfredo Morelos both fit for the trip to Partick.

Caixinha will also likely have had one eye on this weekend’s Old Firm clash with Celtic by resting Miller as the veteran striker’s experience in the Glasgow derby could prove invaluable to Caixinha’s newly-rebuilt squad.

Miller has made nine appearances so far this season, scoring twice, and is one game short of having made 250 appearances for the Light Blues over three different spells at Ibrox.
