Stan Collymore has hit out at the Wolves board after they completed the club-record signing of Helder Costa on Monday afternoon.

The 23-year-old initially joined on a season-long loan deal from Portuguese giants Benfica in the summer.

He has become an immediate star at the club and the Midlands side were eager to tie him up to a permanent deal as soon as possible with the club announcing his signing on their official Twitter account on Monday.

Midlands publication the Express and Star have reported that the fee is a club-record £13million, which comes after News outlet HITC had reported that Everton were eyeing the attacker alongside several other Premier League sides.

However, outspoken pundit Collymore is refusing to believe the top flight interest and thinks the club have overspent in a move by agent Jorge Mendes to line his pockets.

“Jorge Mendes. Kerching,” wrote Collymore before creating a hashtag which read: “When will fans and owners learn.”

He then went on to label the owners as “rookies” in a string of posts on his personal account regarding the deal.

Mendes was handed a role at Wolves after the club was taken over by Chinese group Fosun in the summer.

He has overseen 15 transfers at the club since joining in July, which has seen Wolves struggle in 18th place in the Championship table.
