Stan Collymore slams Liverpool after their performances this season

Former Liverpool striker and outspoken pundit Stan Collymore has slammed the club after their performances this season.

The Reds are going into their final match of the season in third place and four points above Arsenal in fifth, who also have a game in hand.

Jurgen Klopp’s side’s high placing does not however tell the full story and many feel as though Liverpool are faltering over the finishing line rather than making a top four place their own.

This mindset also seems to be the way Collymore is thinking and he has called out the Merseyside giants for their “woeful” displays, stating it is not good enough for a club with their resources.

“This season for me has been underwhelming, with only Spurs giving me the kind of quality football constantly over the 38 games,” wrote Collymore in his column for Boyle Sports talking about the quality of the Premier League this season.

“Chelsea were about solidity with magic dust sprinkled on top and Liverpool and Man City were great one moment, woeful the next. This is not good enough for clubs with the resources available to them.”

Liverpool started the season in fine form and after their 1-0 victory over Manchester City on New Years Eve they were sat in second place with six points separating them from league leaders Chelsea.

But, their poor form since the turn of the year has seen them tail off and sit a huge 14 points behind Antonio Conte’s title winners.

It is now felt that Liverpool will have to win their game on the final day against already relegated Middlesbrough at Anfield if they are to play in next season’s Champions League.
