Stefan Borson drops verdict on Erling Haaland joining Real Madrid after contact made
Erling Haaland has enjoyed an excellent start to the new season following his fine form for Manchester City and Norway.
Haaland is in the race for the European Golden Boot after registering 12 goals in nine appearances for Pep Guardiola’s side this season.
Meanwhile, Haaland scored a hat-trick for Norway in their 5-0 victory over Israel on Saturday (11 October).
The 25-year-old’s form has led to speculation around his future at Man City, with CaughtOffside reporting on Saturday that Real Madrid have been in touch with the striker’s camp to assess the possibility of him making the move to the Santiago Bernabeu.

Erling Haaland could quit Man City in the future
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider he wouldn’t rule out the possibility Haaland won’t see out his entire contract at the Etihad Stadium.
Haaland agreed a new deal with Man City in January, extending his stay until 2034.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about whether Haaland would be open to leaving, Borson said: “First of all, nothing’s impossible. But I think as we understand it, some of the exit clauses and release clauses that were in the original contracts have been taken out in the renewal.
“It doesn’t seem to me to be likely that Real Madrid are going to be able to find the necessary fee that it would take to take Erling Haaland to Spain. Likewise, with some of the rumours about Barcelona.
“But things can change, and Barcelona at some point in the next five to 10 years will find themselves on a more stable financial footing, so they may well want a headline signing.”

Haaland scored the winning goal in Man City’s 1-0 win over Brentford before the international break, with many pundits now feeling he’s in the best shape of his life.
Haaland unlikely to agree imminent Man City exit
Haaland joined Guardiola’s side from Borussia Dortmund in 2022 after they triggered his £51million release clause.
Borson believes the Norway international could be interested in a move in the future, but he insisted the latest rumours appear to just be media speculation.
“I think he’s got some time to go at City, but I wouldn’t rule out the possibility that Haaland doesn’t see out his entire contract at City,” said Borson.
“I would think after a certain number of years he probably will want to try something new, but I don’t believe there’s a list or a process and anything’s imminent. It seems to me to just be paper talk.”
Haaland will be back in action for Man City when they take on Everton at the Etihad on Saturday (18 October).
