Stefan Borson: Liverpool have made ‘surprising’ Arne Slot contract decision
Arne Slot enjoyed an incredibly successful first season at Liverpool after leading his side to the Premier League title.
Liverpool backed Slot with multiple new signings in the recent summer transfer window, with the club spending £446million.
However, the Reds are currently in a difficult run of form, having lost four games in a row in all competitions.
Their latest defeat saw Manchester United claim a 2-1 victory at Anfield, with Harry Maguire scoring a late winner.
Despite their recent form, it has emerged Liverpool are looking to hand Slot a new contract following his success last season.

Liverpool backing Arne Slot after contract latest
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider it’s slightly “surprising” Liverpool are already looking to extend Slot’s contract.
The Dutch manager’s current deal expires in June 2027 after he joined on a three-year contract from Feyenoord in the summer of 2024.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider about Slot’s contract situation before the defeat against Man United, Borson said: “I guess it’s a little bit surprising, but then he did win the league in his first season.
“They obviously backed him very aggressively, so they do seem to have a lot of faith in him, and why not?
“I think the current dip is kind of irrelevant to that bigger picture. It’s a very small dip.”

Former Everton CEO Keith Wyness told Football Insider Liverpool have “gone too early” following their contract negotiations with Slot.
Liverpool impacted by Alexander Isak situation
Meanwhile, Alexander Isak has struggled since making his £125m move from Newcastle United in the summer.
Borson believes it will take time for Liverpool’s new signings to settle at Anfield.
“They’re bedding in new players and it’s always very hard the season after you’ve won the league anyway, everybody knows that,” said Borson.
“I think they also had a number of unusual circumstances this summer, with Jota and with Isak. They are very different situations, but both are probably playing their own part.

“I guess it’s slightly surprising, but it’s not unheard of after a manager has such an amazing first season.”
Liverpool currently sit fourth in the Premier League table, four points behind leaders Arsenal after eight games.
