Stefan Borson ‘surprised’ by what was allowed to go on at Tottenham during ban
Tottenham are shaking things up behind the scenes after announcing changes to their leadership team.
It comes after Tottenham confirmed Daniel Levy had stepped down as executive chairman last month after spending 24 years in the role.
Spurs appointed Peter Charrington as non-executive chairman following Levy’s departure, while Vinai Venkatesham is leading the day-to-day operations after joining as CEO earlier this year.
It was confirmed on 15 October Fabio Paratici has returned to Tottenham as sporting director, with Johan Lange also promoted from technical director to sporting director.
Lange joined the north London giants from Aston Villa in 2023, having previously worked as sporting director at Villa Park.

Fabio Paratici situation ‘surprising’ after serious charges
Former Man City financial adviser Stefan Borson exclusively told Football Insider Paratici and Lange could each be earning between £300,000-500,000 a year at Tottenham.
Paratici has been working with Tottenham over the past few months after serving a suspension for financial misconduct during his time at Juventus.
The Italian has been operating in a consultancy role since resigning as Spurs’ director of football in 2023 following his 30-month ban from the game.
Speaking exclusively to Football Insider, Borson said: “I guess in the grand scheme of things, let’s say the salary is £300k-500k each for these people. It’s not going to really move the dial materially either way, whether there’s one or two of them.
“I think in some ways the more surprising thing about the whole thing is that Paratici was able to continue to work as a consultant while being effectively banned for quite serious proven matters following the charges.
“So, it is slightly surprising, but I don’t think in itself that two people splitting what is now a very complicated, big role is the big shock here.”
It was revealed in Tottenham’s latest published accounts for 2023-24 that Levy had taken a significant pay cut, with his annual salary dropping from £6.6million in 2022-23 to £3.7m.
Tottenham set for more changes after new leadership decision
Borson believes Tottenham’s owners are going to continue making changes behind the scenes following the latest leadership announcement.
ENIC owns an 86.91 per cent stake in Spurs, while Levy and members of his family hold a 29.88 per cent share in the British investment company, and Joe Lewis’s family trust own the remaining 70.12 per cent.
“There’s a lot of change that’s going to happen at Spurs I would think because it increasingly looks like the Lewis family, or those representatives of the Lewis family want to make their mark and they want to show a distinction between the old regime and the regime going forward,” said Borson.
“I think we’ll see lots of these sorts of signs and signals of things that they’re looking to do to differentiate from the past.”
In terms of on-field matters, Thomas Frank’s side have slipped to sixth in the Premier League table after suffering a 2-1 defeat against Villa on Sunday (19 October).
